To see if I still feel

Description

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Hurt - Johnny Cash

This song really reminds me of Booker.

True story. I had a classmate a long time ago who could have been a real life Elizabeth Comstock--she looked just like her and was just as alluringly aloof, although she was much more casual and humble and pleasant to talk with than the character was. One day I was talking with her and and a teacher, and something moved me where I had a panic attack in front of them. I know now that I got carried away and I'm sure I embarrassed them and myself, but I was so anxious that they talked me back down into peace. My classmate, the could-be-a-real-life-Elizabeth, didn't say anything but she laid her hand on my shoulder twice and gave me this look of pity and concern which non-verbally told me "you'll be okay; everything's going to be alright". I really appreciated her doing that. Anyway, I say all this because this art here looks almost exactly like what happened in reality--the very same face, expression, gesture, message, situation. It's an art that very coincidentally imitates a real event so much that I needed to include it in my favorites gallery.
